Life is different for sure. I am uncertain who to believe and what to trust as we face new terrain as a country. Should we stay home or is it really okay to go out? I am not even sure of what to do with my time at home, that has been a gift I’ve had since January. Most of the projects are done and the house is in order, now I have time to think. I don’t know about anyone else’s mind but science says that we have somewhere between 9,000 and 60,000 thoughts in a typical day. I would venture to guess that mine is closer to 60,000 for sure. My personality type is logical and I am always searching for answers that can explain away the “ugly” in this world. Enneagram seven’s get really good at flipping a negative situation into a positive in a millisecond. If I had to say one gift God gave me that I love the most it has to be that. Gratefully I have been digesting a lot of Bible addresses to remind me that there is another way to see things.
The problem with my personality is that I get bored very easily. Time alone is the hardest challenge for me and since Hubby and I separated I have more time than I know what to do with. Though I seem him regularly, I live alone for the most part and I am in a new area of the metro and don’t know many people here. Most of my friends live at least a 30 minute drive from me and so we don’t get together much anymore. I miss being around my girlfriends and Hubby, we remind one another what the truth is. It feeds my soul when we get together and talk, if any of us are facing hard stuff, we remind each other to look up.
This morning when I was reading the Bible, I thought about how sad it is for those who don’t have a firm foundation (Matthew 7:24-27) right now. This is really frightening not feeling safe to be out in the world doing life together. I’ve been listening to Bible teachers talking a lot about what they see is going on in the world AND how God is going to use it for our good (Romans 8:28). Because of my personality I have to have a lot of truth to make sure that I can believe the answers that they offer to me as truth. I have to have a comparison when the world says to be afraid, and because I stand on the Word of God I know that I don’t have to be. God will use this time for our good, He loves us. He told us in His Word that these things would come and that we were to be the light for others to see Him. We can’t offer that to those who don’t know Him yet if we are living in the same fear that they are. Stand firm in your faith (1 Corinthians 16:13) in this time, this isn’t the worst of it for sure. Revelations is full of things that will come to pass before we see Jesus and they are going to be equally, if not more, scary for sure.
I believe that God is calling up His army in this time of the world. Use this time to lean into Him and His Word so that you will be able to give others a reason for your hope (1 Peter 3:15), even in these uncertain days. Start your day in Truth, even if it is five minutes, at least the firm foundation will be there holding you up. If you have more to give, then do, a habit starts with baby steps. End the day with the Truth so during the night when the enemy is speaking over you, you are firmly planted on what God says is true. Guard your heart (Prov 4:23) and mind in this time too, don’t allow yourself to get caught up in wordly things (Romans 12:1-2) such as videos that are harmful. It would be easy to do, especially for me. If you are choosing movie, pick ones that offer a miracle. There are lots of things available that point you to truth even when you can’t be with the ones you love who do. I have faith in you and know that God is going to use this time to strengthen us all. Spending moments in His presence will be our saving grace while we wait.
I appreciate those who are following my blog and I will write about what God is doing on my end so that I can offer you hope. Stay alert (1 Peter 5:8) and read Truth, we will survive this together – apart.
(I put several Scriptures below to meditate on, they have been so good for me so I wanted to share.)
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash” Matthew 7:24-27 NLT
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” Romans 8:28 NLT
“Instead you must worship Christ as Lord if your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.” 1 Peter 3:15
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” Proverbs 4:23 NLT
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” Romans 12:1-2 NLT
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 NLT
That’s so true, Chandra! I am grateful we have daily time with the Word to put in these truths! I love you.
