“You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.” Psalms 65:11
Abundance is my word for 2020. This year has not started with the appearance of abundance. I don’t even think that I would believe that it is my word if God hadn’t made it clear before my current situation began. The dictionary defines abundance as “the state or condition of having a copious quantity of something; plentifulness of the good things of life; prosperity”. I cannot say that the last thirteen days I have been experiencing what the world calls the “good things”. On the other hand I can say that I have seen the abundance of God’s grace, mercy, and favor. I’ll take it!
The Scripture above is the verse God led me to and it assures me of what is to come. I believe with all of my heart that He will crown this year off with a bountiful harvest and this pathway we are on will continue to overflow with abundance. The greatest gift I’ve been given in abundance thus far in 2020 is peace. I’ve noticed a change in my eyes, they are smiling a little again. I felt like I had lost the ability to offer anyone love late last November, I was really sad about it. My normal is to offer conversation and a smile to most everyone I meet, I couldn’t do that anymore. I didn’t know why. I could see it was happening but didn’t know what needed to be done to bring it back. I’ve since learned that is called depression. My personality has such an ability to put a positive spin on things that I wasn’t facing the facts, or truth. I was depressed and I needed to do something about it before I gave up this time. The way that 2019 ended was difficult for sure, but what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.
I come into 2020 with a renewed sense of hope. It is going to take time for the healing process and going through processes is not fun, but it can be abundant. God has so much more for us in this life if we are willing to change our minds about what things mean. I can still see abundance even in the middle of what looks like a really bad storm. As He roots this really big word deep into my heart, I imagine I will see things as abundant that used to appear a tragedy. As the year moves along I will share with you the places where I see and know abundance even when it may not appear that way. There are so many promises of abundance in the Bible and I will share a few more below. I pray you have a blessed day and that God will show you His abundance.
“From His abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.” John 1:16
“You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from Your rivers of delights.” Psalms 36:8
“Then You put a leader over us. We went through fire and flood, but you brought us to abundance.” Psalms 66:12
“To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.” Matt 13:12
